This week has been exhausting. I’m so thankful that we are finally at the Thursday mark because I feel like I’m one yawn away from curling up on the nearest available flat surface and sleeping. I don’t know if it is because we just have so much going on in our world that involves working late or if I’m losing my mind, but I definitely am feeling the tireds. I thought I would break this post up into what I have going on and give everyone a taste of everything.
The lamps are done and after an epic search for lamp shades I think we found the right ones. My office feels more cozy and I love not having to turn on the blinding overhead light in the mornings. After chalk painting the bases white, my seven dollar ugly lamps became something that I’m proud to own. Plus, I love a good deal.
This lamp used to be ugly. The shade was cone shaped and didn’t have the right feel for my industrial cottage. Nathan helped me add a hole in the lid of a mason jar and now I have a lamp that when I’m reading beside it, it makes me feel like my book is being lit by a jar of fireflies. I love it. The keys were a recent find in a store and I love the addition to my empty frames. Basically I love everything.
All the projects have made me feel like I’m steadily getting stuff done in our house and I’m really happy with the way that things are turning out.
I’m working on a new novel. It is my first attempt at first person and recently the writing hasn’t been going as well as I would like it to. I honestly think it is because school has been so overwhelming, I’ve worked late 2 of 3 nights this week, and my tiredness is making my 4:50 wake up time really really hard. Either way, I have several thousand words on the new stuff and I’m excited to meet with Ashley this weekend to see if I’m on the right track.
Now that I’m done with Look to the Sky I know what I need to be doing. I need to be drafting my query letter and making a list of agents to send it to. I know that is what I need to be doing, but I also know that I’m trying to write a new novel. I’m having a hard time balancing the old and finished with the new and unfinished. Maybe that will be a weekend goal: write a query letter and find five agents? Seems doable to me.
Other than writing and projects, I’m looking forward to spring and to getting my garden ready. I’m so excited for a break from this school year because I must honestly tell you all that it has been a hard one. I’m ready for a summer filled with writing and reading and getting ready for next year. I’m ready to take some time to make sure my feet are set firmly before moving forward.
Nathan and I are watching The Office for the first time and as frustratingly awkward as some of those characters are, I am really enjoying watching it. We’re in season 6, which makes me sad that it’s almost over.
That’s all I have for you guys, plus I’m about to turn into a pumpkin. School is beckoning and I’m ready for a new day filled with Critical Friends and project work time.
