I had just helped Madi reorganize and semi-decorate her office, when I came home, walked into my own office, and had a minor freakout. “I can’t work in here!” my mind screamed as I tried to put together a plan. Piles upon piles upon piles had been stacked in random places, my yellow walls, once happy, had become constricting and dark, and I was sick to death of sharing my office with the daybed.
So, I took things off the walls, I threw things away. I cleaned and dusted and turned my office into a space that was my own and that I was ready to work in. I think part of it was the fact that it was the next to last day of my summer. I needed one last day of productivity.
So, my new office, some shade of white that is actually gray, was inspired by this mug:
I wanted light, airy, springy even. It feels open and relaxing, and I love it. I still have a bit more to do, one wall has no artwork because I need to paint the frames and think about how I’m going to hang stuff, but it is so much better than it was! I’m super happy with my last couple of days of productivity!
Now, I’m sitting here preparing for the new school year in my new office. I’ve been revising the Georgia novel like a mad woman, but taking a break yesterday was exactly what the doctor ordered. Today, I will get down to business.
So, I had a minor breakdown, but it led to this beautiful office. I’ll take it!
