I’m still taking notes on my new novel, still unnamed, still without much actually written down. I promise, though, I’ve been writing. Today, as most days, I’m having a hard time getting focused in such a short amount of time. Having only an hour in the mornings to write is a blessing because I actually make the time, but also a curse because I never feel like I get everything accomplished that I want to. Managing this blog, writing in my journal, doing free writes to get the creative juices flowing, and still having time to write the next novel: It’s just a lot.

This time around, as I’ve said before, I’ve been spending a lot more time free writing and trying to get myself into the world of Hamilton, way more time than I spent getting into Georgia’s world. I felt like that description of place, one of the things that I feel I should be best at, fell a little flat. This time I’m trying to make sure that that doesn’t happen. I have character questionnaires for all of my main characters and a sticky note map of Hamilton’s downtown. Here’s what my notebook looks like right now:

Notes, on the town and characters, as well as ideas.

There are fifteen or twenty pages that look like those. All that to be said, I’ve been writing. I’m still not great at juggling it all, but I’m working on it. I’m trying my best. Now, it’s time to get back to Hamilton. Have a great Monday, friends!
