People never cease to amaze me. Normally not in a good way. I look for the good in humanity everywhere. I’m a lover of books and surround myself with words that help me cope with a sometimes brutal world. But, guess what?
People can surprise you. Good things do happen and good people are out there.
Tonight, I saw it in the most random place; I saw good people on American Idol. I don’t even normally watch the show, but today as I was flipping through the channels, I just stopped, and boy am I glad that I did.
At the tail end of the show, the last man to sing told the story of his fiancee. They had been engaged only two months from their wedding date when she was in an accident. The doctors never expected her to wake up, but he never gave up. Here is what he said that made me tear up:
I was ready to walk down the aisle in two months. I was ready to say vows: for richer, for poorer, in sickness or in health… What kind of man would I be if I walked away now.
That’s not a direct quote, but it still has the impact. Wow. Thank you sir, for inspiring me. But then they did something extraordinary in my opinion. The judges brought his fiancee into the audition room and made her day. Wow, again.
Thank you Fox television.
