I know it is Sunday and Sundays are technically for book reviews, but I just have too many things that I MUST share with you all, so no book review this week. I will tell you that right now I am reading two books, Story Engineering by Larry Brooks and Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy by Karen Foxlee. Story Engineering has been a wonderful read. While I sometimes get annoyed with the authors haughty tone and seemingly unflagging commitment to change all pantsers to planners, the content is brilliant. I can’t believe I’ve been writing this one way my whole life and this way was always out there. If you are an aspiring novel writer, this book is worth the money! Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy is my book club book for the week, and I can’t even tell you how excited I am to start reading it! I love middle grade literature because it makes my heart happy and refuels my love for the world! I’ll let you all know how it is once I’m done!

Now, on to the exciting things that are going on in my world! The first is that the kitchen remodel is going to happen for serious! When we moved into the house two and a half years ago, the kitchen remodel was on our mind. We have spent the last two years diligently, mainly because Nathan is so awesome, paying off our debt and building up our savings. We have set a savings goal and we are well on our way to getting the kitchen remodel done! New cabinets, new countertops, new appliances, hardwood floors throughout the entryway, living room, dining room, kitchen, and hallways! Oh my! We’re thinking April/May for the kitchen remodel, but as we get more information lined out, I will let you all know!

Next, I’ve always wanted to do something creative that didn’t revolve around writing. I love to write, you all know this, but I also have always wanted to be able to draw or paint what I see in my head. So, because I want to do things that contribute to my happiness, I asked the art teacher at my school to do some private art lessons with me so that I can draw the scenes that I see in my mind. I am really excited, especially since I get to go buy a new sketchbook today!

Now for the big news! In April I will be participating in Camp NaNoWriMo! NaNoWriMo stand for National Novel Writing Month and it is probably the most productive month of creative writing that I ever have. It makes me ignore my inner critic and just write, because that is the only way that I can pump out 1,667 words a day. Camp NaNoWriMo is similar, but with a flexible word count goal and a smaller community. It’s like a virtual camp of awesome fun! My new goals for March are to finish Story Engineering and use my new knowledge from that book to map out my Jayne novel so that when Camp NaNoWriMo begins I will be ready to pump out 50,000 words of story!

Camp NaNoWriMo

Well, I feel like I’ve pretty much caught you up on what is happening in my world! Happy reading, happy writing, and happy everything else!
