There has been a lot going on in my world these past several days. I don’t even know where to begin, so I’ll start with school. School has been extremely busy. With three graduate classes, one of which I’m in a constant state of confusion, I’m feeling the weight of the work that I have to do. Fortunately, the two classes that are directly related to my program, I absolutely love. They are amazing.
I’m learning how to plan and schedule my teaching in my Introduction to Teaching class, and in my Classroom Management class, well, I’m learning management strategies. I feel like these two classes are giving me a basis for everything else that I will learn. Both of my teachers are impressive and really know the material. When I become a teacher, I want to be a mix between Mr. Feeny, Professor McGonnagal, and Professor Lupin.
Work is work. I tallied up how many hours I’m actually working and it is definitely between 30 and 40 hours a week. Yuck. I’m definitely ready to be teaching.
Running is going well. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with exercise induced asthma. Basically a fancy name for breathing becoming harder when I, yeap, you guessed it, work out. Now that the breathing is under control the running is becoming more invigorating. I can feel myself pushing harder, going faster. By the end of October my goal is to be between 2.5 and 3 miles. I think that I need to find a 5k to sign up for. Something to keep me motivated.
I’m not reading anything new right now, I’m still working on rereading To Kill a Mockingbird which I am enjoying. Banned Books Week is upon us, so go and read something that has been banned, like To Kill a Mockingbird. We cannot encourage people to read and then tell them what they can or cannot read. Read everything!
Well, that’s really all for now. I’m going to do another post of Piaget’s Cognitive Learning Theory soon. I have to teach for thirty minutes on it and thought you might find it interesting.
Thanks for being my faithful readers.
